You are free to walk anywhere on the farm but need to be aware of the dangers of climbing mountains and that you walk at your own risk entirely.
That being said there are some magnificent area and hidden gems on Ben Aloe so we have taken the time to just point out a couple of routes and we urge you to explore the farm at your own leisure and pace.
A couple of our favourites are
1) Boer ruins which are all on the front and top of the mountain to the left of the waterfall. The best way to get there is either walking up the front or to climb to the right of the waterfall and cross over the river and climb to the top from the waterfall side.
2) A magnificent walk is to do as above but walk to the end of the ridge where the "crack" crosses the kloof. Descend and then hike up the crack on the other side. The stream that feeds the waterfall comes down here. Scrambling and enjoying what seems like a tropical jungle is awesome. It is not an easy hike and if you have dogs or small kids you will need to help them over some rocky sections.
3) The Bushman paintings walk is more simple but you head up the mountain behind the house towards the large "Kiepersol" tree you can see. The paintings are on the face on the right of the large crack in the mountain face behind the Kiepersol.
You can ask the staff for guidance or assistance and should you want just hire them to take you on the walks.
Enjoy!
